Andrea Boctor and Sophie Lamonde named 2016 Lexpert Rising Stars
NOVEMBER 2016 - Stikeman Elliott is pleased to announce that partners Andrea Boctor and Sophie Lamonde are recipients of the 2016 Lexpert Rising Stars award. Each year, this award is dedicated to 40 lawyers under the age of 40, who have achieved outstanding success in the legal community, and are recognized as up-and-coming leaders.

Andrea Boctor
Andrea Boctor is a partner and head of the firm's National Pensions & Benefits Group and advises clients in all areas of pensions and benefits with a particular focus on complex pension issues in the context of M&A, bankruptcy and insolvency. She is recognized for her expertise by Chambers Global, Chambers Canada, The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, and The Best Lawyers in Canada. Andrea also contributes to her professional associations and communities, including as co-editor of Pension Benefits Law in Ontario and editor of Canadian Cases on Pensions and Benefits. She is also a member the Association of Canadian Pension Management and the International Pension & Employee Benefits Lawyers Association.

Sophie Lamonde
Sophie Lamonde is a partner and head of the Mergers and Acquisitions Group in the Montréal office of Stikeman Elliott. Ms. Lamonde's experience includes advising several Canadian and foreign clients in acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations, and general commercial negotiations. Sophie's expertise in mergers & acquisitions has been recognized in The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, Lexpert Guide to the Leading US/Canada Cross-Border Corporate Lawyers in Canada, and The Best Lawyers in Canada. She was also ranked among the Top 40 Under 40 legal practitioners at The M&A Advisor's 4th Annual M&A Advisor Recognition Awards and in 2014, she won the "Étoile Montante" award at the 9e Gala des Talentueuses of the Association of Quebec Women in Finance. She is a member of the Quebec Bar, Canadian Bar Association, and the American Bar Association where she participates actively in the Committee on Mergers and Acquisitions as well as the Committee on Venture Capital and Private Equity of the ABA Section of Business Law.

Andrea and Sophie were selected as winners by an advisory board made up of Chairpersons, Managing Partners, and distinguished lawyers from across Canada. The awards were presented at a gala in Toronto on November 17.
