Stikeman Elliott, WCM welcome Minister Bains to diversity event
DECEMBER 2016 - Stikeman Elliott's Toronto office is pleased to co-host a lunch seminar featuring keynote speaker Canada's Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, the Honourable Navdeep Bains, with Women in Capital Markets (WCM) on Wednesday, December 14. The event titled "Bill C-25: How This Proposed Law Could Boost the Ranks of Women in Boardrooms", will focus on the Bill C-25, which includes specific measures that focus on the drive to increase the presence of under-represented groups on corporate boards and in senior-management ranks of publicly traded companies in Canada.
"Board renewal and gender diversity are important issues that will continue to be front and centre given the focus of regulators and others. Our position advising businesses as well as their boards and executives, gives us a unique vantage point to think critically about these issues, and we look forward to contributing as thought leaders in this discussion," says Ramandeep Grewal, counsel in the Corporate Group, and recently recognized as a "Woman Worth Watching 2016" by the Profiles in Diversity Journal.
As part of Stikeman Elliott's Board Diversity Initiative and our ongoing commitment to diversity and the advancement of women in law and business, this is one of a number of events and roundtables we will host to discuss the issue of gender diversity on boards as well as cover topics of interest to current and future board members. We are pleased to be able to co-host this event with WCM and excited to be a part of this important discussion.
