Law Practice
Sterling Dietze is a partner in the Montréal office of Stikeman Elliott with the Banking and Corporate Finance Group. His practice involves all aspects of institutional financing and banking. Mr. Dietze has acted for borrowers and lenders in various financing transactions. Such transactions have included gold loans, securitizations, syndicated loans and participation agreements, asset-based financing, infrastructure financing, international financial transactions, project financing and financial derivative products. Mr. Dietze has also acted as counsel to foreign financial institutions in respect of the financial regulatory environment in Canada and the Province of Quebec and as special international counsel to a Presidential Commission in Haiti for the reform of secured transaction laws.

He was directly involved in the drafting of standard form security documentation for one of the major Canadian chartered banks in light of the reform of Québec civil law. He has also given numerous conferences in respect of his areas of practice.

Mr. Dietze is fluent in English, French and Spanish.

Mr. Dietze is a member of the Quebec Bar and the Law Society of Upper Canada. In addition, he is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and of the InterAmerican Bar Association.

Education
Université de Montréal (B.C.L. Honours, 1990), University of Toronto (LL.B. Honours, 1989), Queen's University (M.A. Economics, 1986) and Université Laval (B.A. Economics, 1985). He was recipient of a Bourse spéciale de maîtrise du Conseil de recherches en sciences humaines du Canada in 1985 and recipient of the Bourse d'échanges bilingues en études canadiennes in 1983.
