Raman GrewalIt’s hard to top the expertise of Ramandeep Grewal. Not only is she an accomplished and in-demand author and speaker at a number of legal industry events, she has also played a vital role in some of the most notable transactions in Canada. As a lawyer at the top of her game, it’s no wonder that industry publications often turn to Raman to share her insight on the evolving legal issues of the day.

In the Law Times article, “Federal bill on corporate boards gets amendments”, Raman comments on the recent bill to amend the federal Canada Business Corporations Act in order to encourage greater diversity on corporate boards. Raman, herself a recipient of the Profiles in Diversity Journal’s Women Worth Watching Award, examines the details of these proposed amendments, the underlying reasoning, and what challenges and opportunities these may present for corporate Canada.

Lexpert also called on Raman for her input on a feature story included in their “Top 10 Deals of 2017” issue (January/February). In the article, “To list or not to list”, Raman discusses initial public offerings and describes the steps taken by Stikeman Elliott’s legal teams to support and guide clients through the IPO process. As a member of the legal team working with Aritzia Inc. (C$460M IPO in 2016) and Nexa Resources (C$728M IPO in 2017), Raman has first-hand experience advising a corporate client through the intense and complex process when deciding to take a company public.

In January, Raman was invited to join the partnership at Stikeman Elliott as she continues her active practice and community work. Outside of her legal work, Raman is an enthusiastic supporter of the firm’s Women’s Initiatives and is an active member of the Punjabi community as a speaker and advocate.
